Jan was born on August 28, 1942, in Gainesville, Texas, to Charles Henry Howard and Naomi Blanche Beckner Howard. After graduation from Prairie Valley High School he attended Tarleton State College in Stephenville.
John is survived by his wife, daughters, Julie Buquoi, Lucia Hardaway and Jennifer Hardaway, and brother, Bill Hardaway. Jan had a passion for aviation and loved flying in his spare time.
